Welcome aboard. As an avid Sci-Fi fan, going all the way back to Assimov, Heinlen, Norton and E.E. Smith, I look forward to checking out your novel when it is finished.

Welcome! I wrote a sci-fi novel some years ago. Fun project. Maybe someday I'll pursue getting it published.
Good luck with your novel. Let us know when we can pick up a copy at Borders.

Just as a follow up, following our Holy Thursday service this morning, I had a conversation with two more parishioners about the kilts they wanted to order.
One, one of my readers, will be getting a Stillwater Wallace soon, I'm told.
The other, a 16 yr old (one of my BIBLE DRILLers), can't make up his mind. He wants a wool kilt, but also Clan MacDonald. He also has not convinced his parents that this is an idea worth pursuing. haha
Since we are the celebrants for the Kirkin' of the Tartans at the Stark Cty Irish & Scottish Festival this June 3, we should have a decent showing of kilts!
Not counting this Sat. night/Sunday morning's Paschal Vigil!

hummm... regarding the novel, I have to say that I was also thinking on something like that, linking Scotland with Valencia, and creating, more or less what could be called a valencian kilted character. The basis of it is the pressence of the British Army at the Battle of Almansa, in 1707, during the War of Succesion to the Spanish Crown that meant the end of Valencia as an authonomous kingdom into the spanish crown. After that defeat, we lost our institutions, laws, coin, measure units, right to use our language freely (Valencią), and we even suffered the burning of some cities as Xątiva or Cocentaina, while all the lands surrounding them were salted to avoid anything to grow there... as you can see,... there's some similitudes between what happened here and upthere... and it was done just less than 40 years before it happened in Culloden.
Well, my idea was to make one of us leave the country with some scots of the british troops,... and there would start everything.... until Culloden.
This is just a basic idea that still has to be developed, basically because I have to be sure that some scottish catholic troops came here to fight on that battle. I heard smthg about the "Scots Greys" or the unit that they came from, were on it,.. but nothing sure at the moment.
If I decide to go with that, I'll tell u, but as I said,.... this is just a raw idea right now, and I need to get tones of historic knowledge to fill more or less 50 years of history with something of realism!
”Salud!

Trust me, she is not unaware of the dangers....having experienced my family first hand on many occassions, and being a parishioner of my parish.
Little by little, we lull them into a state of complacency, ...then....BANG!!!

I heard smthg about the "Scots Greys" or the unit that they came from
The Scots Greys were a unit of cavalry in service during the napoleonic war era, they were some of the best cavalry in Europe.
