I have family in Chicago. It's funny that you sound like you get as much grief for the maple leaf as most people do for a kilt, lol. I've been told I could wear the kilt there without too much trouble, when compared to the region I live in now. (Not that trouble stops me.)

Canada is one of my dream vacation sorta places, particulary Montreal and Nova Scotia. I have a lot of apreciation for the way their country is run.

Wear your kilt with pride and if need be, give a brief history lesson of kilts and possible Scots who have settled your area before to those who just don't get it. Seeing something different enough times can sometimes become the "norm." So wear your kilt as often as you can, and at least you can be happy and free!

Yeah, I was born in ROANoke, Virginia. Roanoke itself has all kinds of stories, including that of the "lost colony" it was possibly named after.

A roane is also a type of selkie, the seal-folk of northern Scotland and the isles.
Interesting artwork on your site. You'll be in good company here (not including me - I could never master noses ... )

That is really awesome. Smart parents, or couldn't think of a name. ha ha. I was born in a little town called Rock (and way smaller than Little Rock, too), now that might have been some name too, although there was a Rock Hudson in tv.

Let us know if you venture out more with the kilt. There are always good answers and this board is full of them.

    DALE.

Remember that no matter what you go through while wearing the kilt, someone on this board has probably gone through it before. It's a great place for advice and support.

Yeah...be there on the days when I wear the Maple Leaf hoodie AND the kilt....their little heads are so busy spinning that they are rendered speechless.

I was at a pipe band competition a few weeks ago that was just over on the next block from me...for once I wan't the only guy in the neighborhood with a kilt. I expect that summer will change the dynamic some...either folks will look and say "Oh, he's keeping cool" or "Jeez...isn't that too hot to wear in this weather?".

And Montreal is a gas and I've not made it to Nova Scotia but don't pass up a trip to Toronto (or Vancouver, for that matter)...Toronto truly rocks. I was lucky enough to have been in Montreal for the last season of the Expo's and the nice Montreal Tourism folks treated us to a trip to the ball game...yee-hah!

Another Tennessean. I've only seen one other. Welcome. What city are you in? I gradutated from UT, so I'm familiar with that area. You going to the Gatlinburg games? I'll be there. Look for the X-Marks T-shirt.

UT, eh? That's great. I live an hour's drive from there. A lot of my friends are at UT, and my sister graduated from there. And if I recall corectly ... a couple of my friends went to the Gatlinburg games a few years back in kilts they created on their own. I should go this year.
