I think this one's a pretty good idea. It would help keep all of the regional kilt nights a little more organized.

I remember Bear starting a site called kiltsnight.com, or something to that effect, where people could post about all types of kilt nights, and celtic events based on their location ( http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=12299 ).We also had the Highland Games listings on this site before and the calender, which people could include games, kilt nights, gatherings, etc. Out of curiousity, how many people list their kilt nights in the calendar. How many of us actually read the calendar on this site. I keep forgetting it is there personally.
While I agree that it is a great idea, the problem with both of the previous examples was that no one used them or updated them. Now both are gone. If we had an entire site dedicated to kilt nights around the world and it was not used, how much use is a section of this site?
Anyway, just playing devil's advocate. Mike and Hank are the technical guys, so if they can find a way to make it work I am sure we will see it one day. As Mike said though, there are a few other suprises in the works right now and they all sound pretty cool.

Colin is absolutely right, we are busy with some other projects at present. But I promise, we will look into this suggestion a bit more when we get some of these other projects out of the way.

I always forget to check the calendar on here.
From what I remember about Kiltnights.com, it was for Vancouver area only. But then again my memory isn't the best..
I like the forum idea, because you can chat about other venues or times or what ever pertains to that night. A calendar is static.
To the powers that be, thank you!

For the larger regional groupings of members a "cruise director" (you know, the party organizer type) could be nominated, elected (or railroaded), whose task it would be to enter and update the regional games and kilt nights on the XMarks calendar.
At the beginning of this year I went through my 2006 list of local highland games, checked their websites for 2007 dates, and published them via PM to the Nor-Cal Rabble. It was the brilliant walkerk who took that list and entered it into the XMarks calendar for all to see, with links to the websites and the California notation for instant recognition. He also posted our regular monthly kilt night on the last Friday of every month; those probably need the California or SF Bay Area notation since there are a LOT of bay areas around the world.
Sometimes the games organizers don't update their websites until a couple months before the event, but a "cruise director" (or an assistant cruise director, or anyone, for that matter) could check them periodically for updates and redo the calendar entry.
The regular reminder posts are good, too.
