Sorry, Jamie!
I promise I will not
a) let Alan H., under any circumstance, have some (2.4 yds approx?) of my my stash of pink camo, and
b) speculate, calculate, estimate, surmise, invent, mull, discuss, or otherwise guess the manner of predator this pattern is intended for.
Regards,
Moosedog

In fact, my research some years ago on the elusive and very dangerous mixed semi-diurnal species known as acrylinemesis articii best known for it's well-documented role in being a voracious predator on the rare pink Artic Acrylibeast, shows that they gather together diesel-spattered remnants of abandoned zeppelins, most usually discolored maroon in the low temperatures of the Artic winter, and apply these "so-called" remnants to their skins so as to blend in with the glow of the aurora borealis, so that in fact, should a persistant and well-informed hunter come along, utilizing modern technlogy such as infrared glasses and Diet Mountain Dew, said hunter or concerned scientist, if in fact He (or She) be such, might capture one of these acrylinemesis articii for study or monetary gain; indeed, the few pelts of the acrylinemesis articii currently available for study, closely resemble the above swatch such that I SUSPECT that in fact, the Man Among Us known as Steve Ashton, he of curmudgeonly aspect, has led a secretive and lucrative "second life".
And THAT is how he ACTUALLY makes a living.....this kiltmaking stuff...*feh*!

Another hour and a quarter this morning....so 2.25 hours total. OK, OK, I'm not counting sunays trip to buy velcro, as I'd run out.
*I attached velcro to the inner-apron strip, then mucked around with it and cut half of it off to re-attach a different way, bit of an experiment. Then re-attached.
*Attached inner-apron strip to the inside of the over -apron without using pins
*Sewed down the left hand edge of the over apron (ok, ok I pinned this, but only used 4!)
*sewed down the edges of the first six pleats from hem to fell, WITHOUT USING PINS...*ahem*
* also sewed down the leading edge of pleat #1, since it's not tapered.
Next up, the *next* six pleats.

This morning, another hour for a total of three and change....
Folded and pressed in the next 6 pleats so they're ready for sewing (probably tonight) and the measurement is spot-on! DANG, I'm good.

Sooooo, uhm...what does one have to do to aquire an A.H.X. kilt? Inquiring minds want to know.
A.H.X......that stands for AlanH X-kilt....and is pronounced "axe".....sounds menacing huh? That's because AHX kilts are so bad-***!

Oh, LORD! ***laughing***
Let's see...
1.) I've got Panache's kilt to finish
2.) A kilt I'm making for a Christmas Present
3.) My own Gray Stewart 8-yard knife pleat that I haven't started..this will have to wait until Spring
5.) My way2fractious Homage Kilt for me that I haven't started except to cut out the fabric...probably early January, but maybe February
6.) a 5 yard skirt in the Lindsey tartan I'm making for the guitar player in my band that has to be done by Burns Night (January 26th)
7.) A simple Camo Kilt (I'll do a knife pleat) for one of the wacky PI's here at work..whenever, but probably February
8.) and a pleated skirt....plain twill with the reverse pleat backed by Clark/Clergy tartan a la NeoKilt style, for a friend in Seattle...whenever, but probably March
9.) If I get those two yards of Hall tartan for Christmas, then I'm making myself a Box pleat kilt in time for next summer!
If I win the 4 yards of MacNaughton tartan that I've bid on, on ebay then I have ANOTHER one to make!
That's my to-do list! I'm booked up, kilt-making wise, through next summer for SURE!

Now that I think of it....how many kilts have I made?
1 canvas kilt that WB Handy has now
1 "traditional" 7 yard tartan made when I first got Barb's book
1 Piper George's 8-yard
4 X-Kilt prototypes
1 X-Kilt as a present
1 X-kilt for me
3 x-skirts for the F-H.C.A.G., girlfriend Jamie and the Lissome Lora
1 6 yard X Marks the Scot knife pleat
1 6 yard F&K grey tartan knife pleat
1 California Tartan box pleat
Total: 15 kilts
After I finish my "to do" list, that will be 24 kilts! Crikey...I gotta find a hobby.

This is your hobby. lol. And frankly, it's a good one, too. Better than my hobby.
