Hello Kevin! I plan to also be a poor, starving liberal arts student. Psych or Music major, not sure which. The other as a minor (once I get to college).
I will look up some threads on the Frugal Corner, but they do have very reasonable prices. I still think $30 for a SWK is unbeatable, but I may be convinced otherwise.

Thanks!
The point was, Nigel, that you don't have to be Scottish to wear a state/district tartan. Most US state tartans are designed for anyone to wear.
There are a number of the state tartans that are quite striking, INMHO -- I wear the Iowa state tartan, for example, in honour of my Scottish ancestors who immigrated to Iowa back in the mid 19th century.

Todd

Here's hoping he does! At least you're trying to make a well-reasoned argument to him as to why you should be able to wear the kilt, rather than just pouting about it being unfair. What's that they say about honey and vinegar?

True, true. If nothing else, he is rational. I am the same way - logical, reasoning, charismatic - and these all help my case. I'm not the type to pout either way, I fix problems.
Thanks for the welcomes, everyone. Great community here .

Welcome Nigel,
I went to college in Corvallis...often got to wear the Benny Beaver mascot costume.
Only suggestion I have for your father is to see if he's open minded enough to look over this forum - including some of the galleries...Ham's for sure.
Maybe you can find a tartan in your school colors.
