Thank you to all for the warm welcomes and invites.
I am of the Foster/Forrester clan, I believe part of the larger MacDonald clan (at least that is what the books say), descended from the Scots-Irish who settled in what is now western North Carolina more than a few generations back, at least as far as we can trace the ancestry. Me, I am West Virginia born and bred, Ohio raised and educated and professionally trained, and a bit of a migrant worker since, having lived and worked in Jacksonville, FL, Kansas City, Madison, WI, and now Phoenix.
I will definitely check out the sonoran scotsmen and look forward to meeting some of you at "the games" in a couple weeks and perhaps sampling some of the wares at the pub. Not sure if I will be alone or with my wife (first generation american of full blooded Dutch descent, who thinks my kilt and heritage interests are silly----uuhhhh--- of novel interest) and brand spanking newborn son (latest addition to the rabble as of 0845 this morning 2/6). If they join me my duration of stay may be foreshortened a bit but I will at least get to show off my latest heir in his MacDonald Modern infant sized kilt (I think we all know what HE will be wearing beneath his kilt).
Thanks again for all the warm hospitality.

Welcome from Houston! And, congrats on the newborn!
(I edited what I had written before not having read your follow-up until after I initially posted.)

Congratulations on the newborn baby boy! See you on the 23rd, good to hear that your boy and wife are doing good. We'll have to raise a toast to them in a few weeks!
Slainte!

Welcome cousin,
I lived in Phoenix from '73 to '01 then bailed the insanity and fled up here to the canyonlands. Ironically, much of my time was near Todd's grandparents -35th Ave and Peoria...a canal rat...
You might wanna consider the Dutch Friendship tartan for a kilt to honor your wife. Rob at RKilts (Canuck) has one and its a beauty.

Its the tartan kilt of course.

Found the Dutch Friendship tartan only available at their specific website, and the site is in Dutch. Figured most of it out by matching the word I mouse clicked with the picture or other page that came up. The stuff tabs out at around $70-75 per metre double width (140cm or a wee bit over 55 inches wide). Also found a couple somewhat less attractive Dutch or Holland related tartans at kiltstore.net's search engine, but they don't carry the Dutch Friendship. Even though it is manufactured by LochCarron I cannot seem to find it listed anywhere else that stocks Lochcarron tartans.
Wife wants to make a comforter for the baby out of the stuff if I can get some. Will follow up.

Just tell your kiltmaker the tartan you want, they'll order it up for you. And enough for what your wife wants too...just tell them.

Scots-Irish Hillbilly? Dang, being only two generations out of the hills on my father's side, we might be cousins.
Welcome to the rabble.
