I am in total agreement this is the only forum I have ever participated in. And I have met some truly interesting folks because of it.

I have subscribed to a few forums but this is the only place I call home and the only people I call friends. I'll never forget asking Hamish a question and suddenly finding a posted video addressed to me showing how a gentleman sits in a kilt! I am constantly amazed by the passion and compassion shown here but I guess I really shouldn't be.

    This is XMarks the Scot!

    Cynthia,

I have had the great pleasure of meeting some great people through X Marks the Scot. The folks that enjoy and thrive here are people that you want to meet. I have been inspired by this community to create, dance, and learn a bit about my heritage. I have made some good friends and learned quite a bit. I am very proud to say I'm a member here. I only hope I can meet more X Markers in person.

    Cheers

    Jamie

    P.S.

FYI: You know Cynthia, if Grant ever made his way down here to sunny California Alan and I would both hug him like a longtime friend! Then again Alan and I (and...well frankly...most of the Nor Cal Crew) are weirdos.

    Awww, thanks everyone!

And Panache, you're right! This place has inspired me to do a lot more things as well. Picking up things I had been ignoring for a while (music, genealogy, sewing... some things I'm still needing to wait on and others I'm trying to work on when I can) as well as new things I'm hoping to try soon like Scottish Country Dancing (we haven't had a chance to do that one yet, but I'm determined to give it a try).

The funniest part was that I mainly joined to help Christopher figure out where to buy a kilt, how to wear it, and all that type of research. I think it was his great grandmother who always said she had Scottish ancestry, but we've been unable to find his genealogy (his family has been harder to research than mine.. yeesh). My Dad always told me there was Irish ancestry in his family but I haven't found that yet. Imagine my shock when two Scottish names popped up... one I never knew was Scottish and the other one I didn't even know about until some other folks gave us a missing piece of our family tree.

I was very happy to hear that of course, because now *I* want to wear kilted skirts and tartans... not that I needed a reason, as you know, but it just makes it all the more special.

And someday, I definitely hope to add the Xmarks tartan to our collection!

And oh! I wonder if Christopher still has photos of him and his old juggling partner juggling rubber chickens with little torches stuffed down their beaks. I'll have to ask him more about that. I never saw them do that routine, but I did see at least one of those rubber chicken juggling props. Heheheh!
