Thanks, this is pretty cool! Though it contained no huge surprises f or me, except maybe more Wilsons in New Zealand & Australia than the UK (now, why was I surprised at that?)
    NEW ZEALAND 5653.28
    AUSTRALIA 5037.98
    UNITED KINGDOM 4321.21
    UNITED STATES 2985.92
    CANADA 965.02

I looked at the density of Wilsons in the parts of Scotland I've been seeing dead relatives in (Dunbartonshire, Stirlingshire, Lanarkshire) but they're not actually the densest concentrations. More like Dumfries & Ayshire.

I wasnt even going to try the Maternal Stewart side in this thing, the outcome is kinda obvious so i typed Pilon which is my fathers surname and was surprised that it actually shows up in Scotland in the light green field in Fife and Moray. obviously im not related to ant of them but having it show up there is quite astonishing .

? Dove must be derived from something else in their language.

It's interesting to notice that in the US most of the Doves seem to be in Virginia and Maryland. Now, I'm from Illinois originally, but from what I have been able to find, my Dove line came from Maryland originally (Annapolis to be exact) through Virginia, then west to Illinois.
Hm?! Interesting. Living in Slovenia I've never heard this name. Even did surch in phonebook, with not a single found. Only some names which start with DOVE; like Dovecar or similar; like Dovc,

OK, I found where is the "catch"....

I mentioned name DOVC in my previous post, which is really not Dovc but has a letter at the and which would read as "ch" in English (Dovch). We use special letter for "ch" which is "c" with additional "checkmark" on the top of it. Sometimes this letter is shown as "e" if you're not using Slovenian fonts.

If I type Dove or Dovc (with Slovene letter "ch") reported result is the same.
Also no meaning in word "dove" (or similar) in Slovene language.

    Sorry.

    Regards!

Interesting link, thanks. I found it strange that there was such a difference between Monroe (me) and Munro (supposedly my ancestors).

For my user name and all it's variants (from my mother's side of the family) I of course found most in Ireland, but the second most in Australia and third most in the UK, then New Zealand, the USA, Canada, Luxembourg (huh?), Spain and the Netherlands, followed by various other European countries and Argentina! The chief of the name lives in Spain, so I expected that to be relatively well up in the rankings, but Luxembourg???!!! It's a postage stamp of a country to begin with (no offence). Also, my own branch went to England, and then I wound up in the US, so I was obviously already aware that there was a lot of Irish emigration to the UK.

When I plugged in various other Irish names, I found a broadly similar pattern. It seems the largest numbers of Irish emigrated "Down Under", and that after that more went to the UK than the US, which defies conventional wisdom I think, but conventional wisdom is not always correct. To read some sources you would think that most Irish who emigrated went to the US, but it obviously isn't so. Still, there's no doubt that the USA gave the world St. Patrick's Day parades, LOL!

A few words on oddities in the databases concerning names beginning with O' and how they are recorded. Apparently in the Irish records they all appear without the apostrophe, and for New Zealand the term frequency is the same with or without it, so obviously you don't add those together to get a total. OTOH, for all the other countries you would have to manually add together the term frequencies for O' names with and without the ' to get the right number that actually occur.
