I concur in some aspects to your post and attitude toward WalMart. A major exception is in the fact that they do hire people that are in an already disadvantaged station on their individual life course and therefore in that respect WalMart affords the particular individual a feeling of greater self image and personal confidence for hope for their own future.
Translation: WalMart hires some disadvantaged people whom could not otherwise work somewhere else.

Go, have fun, don't work at, make it fun! Kilt them, for they know not, what they wear. Where am I now?

Ok.
I'll go further to offer some defense (not a defender though)...
According to more than one Alaskan I've communicated with, Wal-Mart has helped inflation there by bringing in mass quantities and lower prices.
I am still reducing my shopping with them.

Kilts will not turn up in WalMart, or any other discount store until they become the current "gotta have" fad. That appears to be highly unlikely anytime soon.

If you don't like Wal Mart move to a country where they will never have market superiority. Iraq is a good example. They already a Target on every corner.

If anyone is interested, Penn and Teller did an episode of their show, Bullsh*t, about Wal•Mart. Here are links to the show (adult language warning):

I am sure this move did nothing for kilt wearing as a whole, as I am almost certain that those who took advantage of this offer will not wear their Lidl Kilts regularly, and will only pull them out again for next years Burns Night. They will also, I would think look out of place amongst the kilt wearers who are wearing a quality kilt.
I was at home in Scotland when lidl had their sale on and although the quality was pretty awful they sold out in all stores in about 2 hours. The people who bought them will probably wear them once or twice but it was probably cheaper than renting and thats why most folk bought them.
That aside I don't think I would buy a kilt from Walmart.

You will never see Kilts at wal-mart because there are not enough Scots or folks that buy kilts in any one region (Local city/county area) to make it worthwhile for walmart/target/sears or any other store to carry them.
The Same is true of Scuba Gear
As a caveat - There may be one of two locations in the USA that could support it but that is a big maybe

If they started selling kilts at Walmart than I will switch back to suits rather than wear a crappy made kilt that can be sold for cheap.
