The Gordon badge is the same as is on the real one in the Book on Scottish Dirks mentioned and pictured in my posts. SO, that is not in question.

The hilt doesn't look plated, but I could take it to a jeweler friend to inspect the stones and so forth.

Many thanks..I would be interested to reading more about the badge's origins. Perhaps an e-mail to the museum is in order?

bydand is the Gordon's motto. Caber Feigh was the battle cry of The Seaforth Highlanders, who amalgamated with the Cameron Highlanders. This new regiment was called the Queens own Highlanders. This new regiment then amalgamated with The Gordon highlanders to form The 1st Battalion the Highlanders. That regiment is now the 4th battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland.
