A highlander appears at the top of a hill and yells down to the 500 English troops below, "Come and get me if you have the stones." The English commander sends 10 men up the hill. The Scotsman disappears over the hill with the troops hot on his tail. The sounds of a pitched battle ensue and the kiltee re-appears. "Is that all you've got?" he cries.
The commander sends 50 men up the hill. Again, the Scot turns and runs with the troops giving chase. Musket fire and the clang of steel on steel. Once again the brave highlander atop the hill yells down "You'll have to do better than that!" The English commander is flabbergatsed at what is happening. How can a lone man be doing this? He sends 250 troops up the hill, determined to put an end to this foolishness.
The Scot, again turns and runs with the troops in hot pursuit. A mighty din arises, thunderous booms, black powder smoke all around and cries of the vanquished until a lone English survivor crawls down the hill.
The commander demands a report. The barely alive trooper says "It's a trap, sir. There's two of them."
