Well, hello, sir! We are a much more tolerant lot here. I personally wear whatever style of kilt I darned well please, from a traditional hand sewn to a modern Amerikilt. So have no fear of the dreaded Kilt Police here. We have them but keep them in check.

And I wear ordinary shirts (and neckties for appropriate occasions like religious services) because thats what I wear. A kilt to me is just the bottom half of my normal, day to day clothes. I'm have a considerable amount of Celtic background, mostly Welsh with some Irish and Scottish thrown in, but that is not why I wear the kilt.

Same here... I thought that quote was rather funny. The question that comes to mind is, what would that person see as acceptable attire? I suppose kilts are only to be worn at black or white tie events - which completely kills the whole historical value to the garment.
Seeing as how the term plaid means blanket, and a lot of people associate plaid with a "tartan," I guess we should all unbuckle our kilts and drape them over our shoulders - Lionel style.

I still think "Kilt Bully" is a better term than "Kilt Police."
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

That would just be a reversal of how the kilt arose in the first place by strapping an Irish brath (cloak) in place with a belt around the waist. And yes, their cloak and their blanket were usually the same piece of cloth just used differently when they were awake or asleep.

if there are kilt police does that mean there's a kilt prison? And can I get directions?
