    For scrunchable socks, I've have few pairs of these -

    Forget the kilt hose, just wear some wool boot socks and scrunch them down a bit, that will look better than kilt hose, up or down.

    Actually...I'm new to this.
    I'll be kilting for Faire, highland games and kilt nights at pubs.
    I'm looking for something that looks good and walks well.

    Combat boots add an element, or regular hiking boots work... Chucka boots, or anything lace up..

    If any jigging is likely, I find desert boots and scrunched socks are good - far less likely to do a dance partner serious damage if you both get carried away a bit.

    I have no compunction against combat boots with my kilt. But ditto on the socks with combat boots. Mine come barely past the tops of my boots and I think looks rather good. I tried the scrunched look with em and just found it a little odd looking on my leg.
