    What Tartan is This?

When my wife and I go out in a casual setting, my wife occasionally feels under-dressed compared to my kilt. She's agreed that a tartan skirt would be a good way to over come that problem, so we looked at a number of tartans on various sites. When she found the one she liked best, it was unidentified! It's the background to Lochcarron's main page:

There is a litle bit more of the tartan in a lower image - see the whole page at http://www.lochcarron.com/. I checked the images for clues about the tartan (EXIF data, file name) but couldn't find any hints. I also wrote Lochcarron at their customer service address, but haven't received a reply after 5 days.

I suspect this might be a fashion tartan, but haven't a clue about how to figure out what the tartan is. Any idea what this is?

Agreed with Bradley and Tim, I would recognize that one anywhere. One of the few Douglas tartans I don't either have already or have on order. Your piece seems particularly vivid in its coloration, however. Have you any knowledge of the weight or weaver?

Thanks for the replies! I agree, it's Douglas Weathered. Lochcarron's swatch on line is a little washed out, and perhaps the picture I cited on their page is a little more vivid than normal.

What's funny is that I have a Douglas Modern and would have never guessed this was the weathered version. My wife will be surprised that she picked a tartan associated with our family - pretty neat!

Lochcarron's weathered group of Strome tartans is actually quite beautiful, albeit very brown predominated. I have a weathered clan MacDonald, and hope some day to have the above shown weathered Douglas.

    Congrats on the find.

They really are. My Henderson weathered is from their Strome weathered group. I adore the coloring in it. (My avatar is the Lochcarron Henderson weathered also)
