    Clan Chiefs at the Gathering

Here's a link to video interviews with quite a few of the chiefs at the Gathering. Enjoy.

I wear a Jacobite cockade in my bonnet, and have often wondered how would folks regard it when I next go across the pond. Well I just noticed that MacTavish is sporting one. Although he is from Canada. Any thoughts.

I don't know, but in the Wallace Day photo thread you can clearly see a gentleman in this photo (left, holding banner) sporting one on his bonnet:

Thanks so much for posting this link. I had yet to hear the opening speech of the Duke of Rothesay, so it was great to hear what he had to say. I had breakfast with Pauline Hunter the Saturday morning of the Gathering and again I am awe of her graciousness.

I think most of us when we see the Jacobite cockade, which is rare, we think, "oh where are they filming today", or, "there goes another tourist". I think you need to understand two things, firstly, a bonnet is not often worn by the locals and secondly the Jacobite cause is not necessarily a universally liked cause in Scotland and certainly in the highlands, surprisingly perhaps to some, it is not a cause that is ever mentioned. In fact, I would go as far to say, that many make a point of not talking about it.

That, I suppose, depends on where one's loyalty is put, some 250 years after the event!

Well I reckon that answers my question. I prefer to "blend in", not "stick out". Although at 6'6" it's kinda hard at times.
Regards, and thanks for your honest answers.

Many of us in Scotland would regard this sort of display as rather theatrical and unnecessarily so, and cheapens the whole event.
