Just wear a kilt for Halloween, and when asked about your costume say "Costume? What costume?".

Most of clinical staffing this morning was spent planning our agency Halloween party on the 23rd so I do have to come up with something again. Hoping to steal some ideas from this thread.

Ron, just add a chainsaw and I think you've got it!

I've done that... it's more amusing, sometimes, than you'd initially think.

As for the topic at hand, I like to use historic costumes as Halloween attire, in general. If you're doing it up right, I think a belted plaid w/proper historical accesories can liven up a costume party, without doing the kilt's good name any harm.

I'm wearing a kilt on Halloween, not as a costume but because that's what I'm expected to show up in.
One must keep up appearances over on the westside.

When I was a full time kilt wearer I would wear trousers on Halloween

My nephew's birthday party is tomorrow. King Jakob wants a Renaissance party- it seems all the festivals I dragged him to this summer made an impression. He wants me there in my Renaissance Scots garb for his friends to see. My brother and my sister in law are dressing as English nobles, and Jake's big brother is wearing a jester costume (which for him is very appropriate.) Drinks on hand are to include (ginger) ale and (root) beer. I am providing short bread and ***gulp*** American pallet friendly haggis (meaning no organ meat ) and mead for the adults. I made Jake a shield to go with the wooden sword and dirk he got this last summer. It should be a lot of fun- my baby bro and sis in law are going all out. Pics will follow. (Bear in mind that my outfit is not complete and still in the stages of getting put together- my dirk for example is not made. All I have is the 1800's style dirk that I use for cake cutting and haggis addressing at weddings, so I know it's not period- but the kids don't know that and they will love it.)

That's quite an interesting ensemble you have there Ron - a kind of retro pre-colour TV look. Quite striking.

Well, I will not be kilted for Halloween, though not by choice. Seems I will be dressed as a paramedic, as I have to work that weekend. But I had wanted to wear my phillabeg and jacobite shirt. Oh well, maybe next weekend....
