That's right. If it is of any help click on my avatar, click on statistics, and then click on my (JS) threads, there are two or three wedding reports that I have posted.

Making reference to Panache and McMurdo's "kilt looks" thread I'm basically wearing McMurdo's "Semi Formal (suit equivalent)" outfit - although he may well be wearing a black tweed and not barathea.

does this seem appropriate for a wedding?

also - I spotted this photo online. All the gents seem to know how to wear a kilt - and there's some nice outfits. The guy on the right seems to stand out a bit with his Prince Charlie and bowtie. I think his hose look nice though.

It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

I've got to get me a scrunchy before they go out of style. I think they are cool-looking.

I am wearing a Charcoal Grey tweed there, and yes an outfit like that would work, you could even bring the sporran down a notch in formality if you wanted. As for the gent in the P.C. I agree nice hose but the P.C. is a bit much unless he was the groom.

Go with the Argyll and waistcoat.
I wore an Argyll, waistcoat and red tie to my own wedding since it was daytime.

I've always been told, if it is being worn by the groom, it is properly referred to as a mourning suit.

Maybe you are right, but I think not! Morning(as in good morning)suit is how the collective knowledge of this house spell it---eight people. Mourning implies a death in the family,on second thoughts, some would regard a wedding as almost the same thing!! That is not how morning suit is spelt in this house anyway!

Those are excellent pics! This helps tremendously. (I recognize the Hamilton Hunting tartan in the first pic as it is very similar to the MacIntyre Hunting.)

At the moment I'm looking to see if I could convert myself a black suit jacket into a non-silver-buttoned Argyll. I'd also be looking for a waistcoat. These would only set me back around £20-25 out of Primark.
If I wore this with a black bovine sporran with a mainly black (with chrome lining) cantle would this be too formal or just right?
I'd also look into getting antler buttons for the jacket... I'm only a pretty tiny budget due to peronal finances at the moment though!
