On some of the pages it seens the <head> tag is missing the < thus making head> visible on the site. If you do not like the fonts I would suggest using CSS to tell the browser what fonts to use. put {font-family: Verdana,
    Arial,
    Tahoma,
    Helvetica,
    "Lucida Sans",
    "DejaVu LGC Sans",
    "Nimbus Sans L",
    "URW Gothic L",
    sans-serif;
} Leave out the braces, and put the following in your body tag. This puts the most common serif fonts in pretty good order from the top down. It covers Windows, Mac, and Linux. If you would like some help a great site about fonts for websites is:
http://www.codestyle.org/css/font-fa...ntStacks.shtml. I would also suggest using CSS for your formating. This is a personal choice, but like the fonts I think things get a little more flexible. Feel free to pm me about any questions you have. I'll be glad to help in any way I can.

You have an artefact on the Upcoming Events page...

the text string "HEAD>" appears at the top of the page... I presume that you missed the "<" for the markup tag ;-)

I built my website the same way ;-) More power to the oldies who actually take the time to code! :-)

Again, thanks to all who pointed out errors and rendere aesthetic opinions. I've taken them all very seriously. In the end, I may not have agreed with all the suggestions, but I did consider them all carefully.

I hope that the major issues have now been resolved. As always, any constuctive feedback is gratefully accepted!

Well, shoot. I'm always late to the party. It looks like you've fixed a lot of stuff, so let me give you a layman's view of the current state of affairs (as of 1/21/10):

    1. Overall, it's a very good looking site. I really like the homey photos and Burns Supper pix, but I would like names as well. If you're in one, I don't know know who you are.

    2. I, too, would like the logo to be larger. The best part of BeloitPiper's referenced site was that big logo. My eyes have trouble reading the words on your logo.

    3. The "HEAD >" on the Upcoming Events is still there.

    4. Over time, you can find better fonts to use, but what you have is not bad.

I think you've done a marvelous job. It's easy to navigate, easy to read, and pleasing to view. Apparently the Breaking News section is gone since I couldn't find it.

I really like how your site is coming along. I did notice that on the membership page there is a < symbol visible. It appears to be the start of a tag. It is right above your table. I would also consider looking into the CSS border property, as you can style your table borders with it, and achieve a wider array of styles than HTML alone allows.
