Rex, glad to see you are doing better. Enjoy your down time as best you can, when the time comes, just give the word and you shall be spirited away to a secret location and Grant substituted in your place

Well I suppose you could carry rather more than Rex(a lot more in fact ), seeing that he not as fit as he might be?

We must not spread the word too widely about this 25 miles (more than 18, I think, Jock?) It's bad enough that the road has been used for a few moto-sport runs in recent years. That will keep the wildlife down if nothing else does.
I think the distance varies. It depends where you start and finish! I understand that there are pylons along the route these days(I don't remember them being there in the past), probably from that new hydro scheme at Fort Augustus, a necessary evil I suppose and the grandeur of the surroundings seems to swallow them up somehow.

Good morning, Jock. Yes, you are quite right about the distance and it's difficult to be at all accurate on foot. I didn't know about the pylons. That would have come as a great shock, I think. My last time through was 2002.

Actually, Jock, I was thinking of inviting Grant to join me for just that reason. He could carry the pack and set up a fly and boil water for tea -- that sort of thing. Make himself useful.

Now there is a thing, the words "Grant" and "useful" being used in the same paragraph. Hummmmm, never thought that could happen.

I was thinking he might need some encouragement. If I left the Vectra at the Laggan end and you met us at The Bothy in Fort Augustus with a pint already poured and with his name on it...? Perhaps not quite enough, I suppose. Ali, what do you think?

-----and then after his swift half pint, he(Grant) could pop back and pick up the car at Laggan, while we have another drink and something to eat! Ali and Rex I would really enjoy a leisurely meal with you two.

Well then, it will just have to be. I would love it too Jock!
