New replacement for a sgian dubh
As often as I go kilted in places where any kind of a blade is ... not well received, I've been looking for a useful replacement to tuck into my hose instead.
Then, yesterday, strange things were afoot at the Circle K and I found this:

It is 1/4" x, 3.5" x 1" (6mm x 9cm x2.5cm) and amazing bright for its size.
Was running than a fiver.

It appears to be a laser guided ice scraper.

*Cracking up*
Now /that/ would be useful. Unfortunately, it is just a flashlight/laser pointer combo.
The blue button for the two LEDs on the flashlight and the red button for the laser pointer.

I think some kind of decorative handle might be in order.
Aside from the lack of "traditional" appearance, I think it's a great idea.

unfortunately, just as with knives, you can still have someone's eye out with that.

That is, in fact, about what I thought it was when I saw the picture!

I've been giving thought to a handle and when work slows down enough I have time to tinker with things I may try my hand at it.

You can get a dummy sgian dhu. It is plastic with a handle and a piece of plastic without an edge or point in place of the blade. You can then wear it anywhere you wear your kilt without the long arm of the law taking offence.
