    Ligonier Highland Games, PA 9/11

The Ligonier Games were held on 9/11... a gorgeous, sunny, hot day. I had the great pleasure of meeting new Xmembers: Santa Kona, Santa Wally, Sir William, Mark, and Don. Too bad the day went so fast. Enjoy the pics below.

Great shots (so far). Like the X'ers group shot. I was very surprised when I saw the size of the Deerhounds at the local games. Big dogs.

    Great shots denmcdough!

I've never seen bell ringers at Highland games, and kilted at that. Can you elaborate as to what they did and represented?

Thanks, Freelancer. I honestly can't say what the bell ringers were doing there, or what group they represented. Sorry! They were excellent, though!

I've been attending the Ligonier Games for many, many years now. It's by far my favorite highland games festival. Located in the woods of Idewild park, in historic Ligonier Pennsylvania, it is a very appropriate, and beautiful spot for a festival. Anyone who knows their F&I history, knows that the 77th and 42nd Highland Units of the British army were at Fort Ligonier under General John Forbes in 1758. The ground has a magical energy to it! The spirits of the past certainly live on there! Anyone who hasn't attended the games there should definitely make the effort. Thanks for the pics!

Fabulous pics. It looks like an excellent day out.
Its great to be able to match some faces to user names.
There has to be a story behind those kilted bell ringers. If you ever find out let me know please.

My first time both in Ligonier and at the Ligonier Games. Had a great time, but I missed seeing the massed bands. In the clans area we heard the pipes practicing throughout the day. Great photos, thanks Dennis for posting them. We need to practice the "Hamish" to get a better photo. I'm sorry for blocking Mark's face with my arm and hand. I need to be sure my raised arm/hand is behind the person beside me. I need to remember that the next time.
