When I did one pair of mine I had some very old tins of tea hanging around the house. I half filled the bucket and added about 100 grams of leaf tea. No science was behind it, it just looked right. All the best with your endeavours.

Hi, f150k, and congratulations on your windfall. Those are two marvellous-looking kilts. I wish you well wearing them.
The one thing that caught my eye was that your two balmorals look brand new, and lack the “jocked” appearance that we at X Marks tend to favour.
Our own Jock Scot posted a thread a while back describing how he left his brand new bonnet filled with stones in a burn (you might call it a branch) overnight to get it just right.
Perhaps he will post a link to it.
    Regards,
    Mike

Oh dear Mike, I have no idea how to do the "link" thing, perhaps some kind soul may be able to do it? Failing that, hunt down on my(Jock Scot) past threads section under a title of "Jock's new balmoral"-----I think!

Mike, thank you for the link, the balmorals are several years old they may show up better in the photos than they really are.
