The real question is, did Jamie have that pic handy already or did he leap into action (and/or costume, I mean, wardrobe) just for the photo-op?

Could have been either. The man is a virtuoso of kilted photography, and if I have ANY insight into Panache, a good occasion to don the pith and mix a G&T would never go wasted.

Well done Tobus. I don't think I could pull it off, but you are most definitely working it!

OK, so I was reading a really old thread of Jamie's on pith helmets. And they had done some 'antiquing' of his photo that I thought was pretty cool. That thread has been locked for a long time, so I'll have to post my attempt here:

The Pith Helmet is really not well integrated in our culture but is a practical item of wear for working in and under the forest canopy where things might fall on one but where you also want shade too. It has all the benefits of a slouch hat or cowboy hat but gives a modicum of protection from falling bits of wood and gravel. I have one like yours, Tobus, that my mother no longer uses and I have a drab canvas covered one. Great gear.
