For a great pair of brown boots that look good paired with the kilt, head to a decent surplus store and look for a pair of Double Buckles, you know, the sweet ones with the lace lowers and buckle cuff uppers. Here is the kicker, find a pair made by one of the US friendly nations in the 50's and 60's. They have near zero collector value and are even better made than most of the US issue ones. I think mine might be Dutch, I paid a whopping $18 for them, about 10 bucks worth of oil, polish and elbow grease brought them back to life, and they wear like iron.

For me, the foot wear has always been lacking until
I bought a pair of high top biker boots at wally world for 20 bucks.
Wife thinks they look good with the black UK. We will see how they hold up.
BTW, love the "Part Irish, English, German and Cherokee. All American."
Me? Same except add "Scottish, Norman, Wales"

I know it seems wierd but the new brushed leather boots we got in the Navy are great.
Unlike smooth leather they breath very well. Easy to keep looking good with a simple brush. Black and desert available.
They are also really comfortable.

I've always believed if one can afford quality that will last, it will be less expensive in the long run. Convert the price into dollars per year. On my sailing ramblings I found a wonderful small boot shop: Stompers in San Francisco. Don't worry, they also sell online. Of course the top quality in the Northwest would be Wesco in Oregon. They have a network of people to help with custom measure orders if one lives outside their small town. Here of course, I may be way outside the wife's budget even though my motorcycle boots from them have lasted twenty years and still going strong. That comes out less than a barginmart pair per year. Good luck.
