I'm 51. I've noticed that what goes around comes around. If I hold on to my clothes long enought, they'll be "almost" in fashion...again! I have two wool kilts, a PV and hemp Rkilt. I had the same question when I asked Robert intially if the Rkilt might look weird on a then 50 year old (assuming--wrongly!--that a more contemporary kilt might be best suited for the younger set). I kind of chuckle about that now. He said something like the demographic for the Rkilt is 35 and up, including his 83 year old father. Now I haven't got the "boot-thing" going... yet. But why not?! I've come to appreciate that while there are some fashion trends in kilt wear based on certain styles and expressions, the garment itself is rather timeless and therefore, in my mind, it matters not how old we are or what style of kilt we wear. While I love my tartan and PV kilts, my hemp is by far my "day-wear" kilt. Heck just washed it, clothes-pinned the pleats and hung it to dry. Treated the leathers, too and... voilá good as new. It works for me at 51 and no one has said it's "weird". May be they thought it. But then, who cares what people think as long as I'm being me. Good on you! Go for it!
