The answer has to be that you do what is right for you. Of course the stereotype is wrong and it should not be encouraged but that is not the same as deliberately setting out to change the perception by acting like the stereotype
Fighting on more than one front is not only exhausting but it halves your chance of success. Dress like the stereotype straight guy and you might fool him long enough to change his mind a little bit. Act instead like the stereotype gay guy and he may simply dismiss you before you can change anything about his perceptions
Life doesn't need to be a crusade all the time and it is possible to pick one's skirmishes in a way that helps to win the war. So, what I'm saying is that it depends on you
