ok, thought I'd post a followup here. I ended up putting 2 large thick beach towels down on a table & laying the kilt out flat. I set the iron on the lowest setting that had steam & I pressed it & sprayed some steam on it. When I was done it looked great, I left it in place on the table to let the pleats set. I wore it out Saturday & it looked great - sorry didn't get any pictures of the pleats

This is the hot set-up, I lay my PV kilts out flat like that after I wash them, take a few minutes to get everything flat and straight, and little to no pressing is needed.
