Heading out in a few days (this coming Saturday) to Tartan Day South in Cayce, South Carolina. I had not been to a Highland Games in a few years (my wife and I used to attend the Waxhaw Games over the border into North Carolina but fell off, now looks like it is no more?) so I was very excited to see an event come in direct local area. I will be interesting to see what improvements/additions have been made since last year.

As to my experience in 2011 it was very nice, arrived a bit early and immediately saw a couple Guinness tents for those so imbibing (they also had Smithwick and Harps if I remember correctly as well as wine which I don't know anything about.) It was windy as all get-out at the location (former NASCAR speedway) and everything was blowing every which-way.

Lots of live music, a good opening ceremony with pipe band (had a representative from the government of Ireland speak which was interesting and in tune with its "Scottish/Irish" combined theme), great Irish dancers (although I hope there is some Scottish dancing this year as well!) Athletics, vendors and some border collie and birds-of-prey exhibitions (forgive me if I missed anything.) No clan tents, so hope there will be some out there this year.
