spied two kilts at Dland in one day

As I've mentioned, I work at The Happiest Place On Earth in Anaheim California.

I've also mentioned on these boards that seeing a man walk around in a kilt is a quite common sight, perhaps once a week or so. (99% Utilikilts)

Yesterday was a bit unusual as we had two Utilikilted gents walk by around the same time.

Even more unusual was the extreme shortness of one of the Ukilts! We were amazed. A guy walking around with his wife and kids was wearing a US desert camouflage Utility kilt which only came to his mid-thigh.

"That's just not right" one of our female employees said.

Usually these Ukilted men err on the side of longness, their kilts sometimes going far below their knees, even mid-calf on shorter men. (With their high-topped boots there's no leg to be seen.)

What is it about Utilitykilts which encourages this propensity for odd lengths?
