I've been away for a week as some of you know. These thoughts have been going around in my mind since I read Kiltedscots farewell.

I was suprised, if not shocked to read that two people have decided to leave the forum. Firstly I wish them well.I too left a forum before this one (hoplessly mis-managed.)

I like this forum, because, as I have said on the newbie slot we respect each others views on this forum. I come home after a week to find it partly un-true. What ever reason you have guy's. is it really that bad

My finding this forum was a happy accident, and in no way did the name of it put me off. However I do feel that it is a little misplaced.I don't however feel that it should be named "xmarks the not so scottish" Or some such. I like the name. I just feel it's an odd choice. I'm not Scottish myself (Born in Coventry ,with Irish parents.) My surname though does have some sort of connection with Scotland. Which brings me to the other thing that has plagued me for some time.

Don't fall asleep at the back there.....

I would like to say that I love all types of kilt(in a way I do.) It's just I find that I have enough trouble justifying A standard Scottish tartan kilt in the village where I live. So a utilikilt (Which I think are ok) would be a no-no. I nearly ordered one some time ago...My wife asked me not too.I love her what could I do.

I comprimised. If I want to use my kilt often I have to use a tartan. loads to choose from no prob's there.I feel more accepted locally that way ,and to be onest it's easier to explain. I think the forum is well partitioned with most kilt types having their own strings to follow and comment on. I have no problems with that at all.

My next point is that history does matter. If our grandparents hadn't met we wouldn't be here on this forum.....would we.( A little joke..sorry)

Is it that Kiltedscot and robbie feel that only Scots should wear Tartan kilts or is it something else Because after reading the comments I got the feeling that The name of the forum was the main sticking point (besides some rudeness). Do they feel cheated by some kind of "Trade discription" were they not getting what they wanted Or will we always remain "Xmarks the not-quite so-Scot"

The name of this Forum is of no concern to me( Thats the moderators job)I'd still be here if it was called "Lardy fat arses in kilts" What matters to me is you lot, and the commitment you all show to our common interest "Kilts" Tartan or otherwise.
