Sorry Tim. The kiltmakers I was thinking of generally 'lift' those swatches from, or refer you to, one of just a few central tartan registeries. They don't often use their own images.
I do see your point of view, however. It would certainly help prospective clients of those kiltmakers who work in only a limited range of tartans, to be able to see the finished product.
It could even be done by the larger makers or any custom tailor to order.... each time a kilt is made in a new tartan, photo and post it. And though I was refering more to the casual kilt makers, where I am only spending $100-$200, you'd think it should be even more important to the kilt makers you mention as those kilt run $400.00 at the low, low end and can go drastically up from there.
