Tartan Tam - first attempt at sewing

I was a little bit intimidated to post this here given the amazing work that you guys are putting out, but here goes… This is my first sewing project, it is (supposed to be anyway) a Tam made out of ‘Armstrong Ancient’ tartan fabric for my daughter. I learned a whole lot doing this. I had to make the top of the tam smaller than what the original pattern had called for due to underestimating the actual size of the tartan fabric that I had ordered (darn metric conversions). I should have paid greater attention to the pattern of the tartan when making the headband so that the red stripe would have been centered on the top as had been my original intent… and further, should have lined up the pattern of the headband with the lower portion of the top (got the wrong set), but I did manage to get the upper and lower portions of the top lined up pretty well though. All in all I had a good time making it, learned a lot and it’s still together, so I’m going to count it as a win.
