    Squishing the posts at the pivot point is the best first option. Second and more temporary is cellophane tape when cuff link is inserted and the tape is applied by someone else (wrapped on the post between the cuffs so it isn't noticed.) The cuffs will hold the loose end snug so it won't swivel. Stitching of the slit in the cuff is also a great idea if you own the shirt but a last resort on a rental. These tips are from my father-in-law (the most dapper man in Mississippi)
