    Highland Games in Phoenix

Just came back from Phoenix picking up supplies and stuff (we live in a small town near the White Mountains) and my wife and I attended our first highland games fair for my birthday in Phoenix. We were blown away by how big it was and had a great time taking in the sights, watching some of the games, talking to a lot of kilted folk, and buying some stuff also. As we took the shuttle from the parking garage to the event, it was a treat to see a lot of kilted men and women walking the streets of Phoenix in that direction. Good to see someone else wearing kilts out and about besides myself (which I did later at Chandler Mall whilst my wife went shopping).

Yep, I ended up buying another utility kilt. My only regret was that I did not wear one of my nice tartan kilts to the event like so many others. Yes, there were all manner of utility kilt wearers also, but Lord willing, next year gonna wear colors. Just not sure about wearing a more formal looking outfit to the mall, which is where we went right after the highland event.

Attached are some photos of the event. There was really cool dancing and one guy described the workings of the bagpipes in detail, kind of a basic course in the instrument. Don't think I got what it takes to learn how to play the pipes, but still very interesting.

My out and about kilt wearing has gradually expanded to include more of small town stuff. I talked to my neighbor recently whilst kilted and he didn't even bat an eye or seem to notice.

Here are the photos. That's my wife with the blue umbrella standing next to the tallllllllllllll guy wearing the longggggggggggg kilt.
