All of this begs what has become a nagging question for me: why don't some of the kilt jacket manufacturers just bring in some summer weight material and put some summer weight jackets into production? I know that some things are only cost effective when there's an economy of scale…buying miles and miles of black barathea must bring the price down…but since a significant part of their market lies in countries outside of Scotland where the summer months bring temps in the upper end of the Fahrenheit scale, you'd think that they'd take advantage of the opportunity to make a few bucks by slipping some poly or linen into the pipeline.
