I can see why the 1790 coat (pictured late in the article) would be a good for drawing a bow. There is ample room in the sleeves and chest area for movement. The colors of the tartan would work also for woods or brush shooting.

The other outfits shown and described are adorned with great pizzaz. Could this be archery had become a hobby instead of necessary activity of the upper gentry?
