57th Annual Colonial Highland Gathering
The 57th Annual Colonial Highland Gathering and Scottish Games was held this past Saturday (May 20) at the Fair Hill Race Track in Elkton, Maryland. Though it was overcast, the weather was beautiful and the temperature just right. This is a great event and has a lot of different competitions to enjoy including; Pipe, Drum, Pipe Band, Drum Major, Highland Dancing and Scottish Fiddle. As usual, I took a few photos at the event. Simon Fraser fought as MacShimidh, a Highland chief… wrapped and belted in a plaid over the top of his linen shirt, like his ordinary kinsmen. He put a bonnet on his head, and stuck the Fraser emblem, a sprig of yew, in it. With the battle cry, A'Chaisteal Dhunaidh and the scream of the pipes, they charged to battle.
