Mr. Trudeau's mother's maiden name was Margaret Sinclair, so that is Sinclair modern he's wearing. Of course he could also wear Maple Leaf which Canada has adopted as it's official national tartan by act of parliament, however, most Scots do wear their own tartan as the norm.

Thank-you Father Bill, I had completely forgotten that in my enthusiasm for the Canadian Maple Leaf tartan, And Margaret was from our part of Canada.
