Original post:
I was a little surprised to see a thread basically crucifying 7N for not being Celtic enough. At the risk of being tarred and feathered, I've got to say, I like 7N. I've got pretty much everything that's available, and yes, they've moved from their roots, but they're speaking to a different crowd now, and some of that crowd is going to go looking for more.
It was looking for more artists like 7N and Young Dubs, that got me looking at the celtic and related genres in general; now I have added to my collection:
The American Wake
Ashley MacIssac
Bad Haggis (although I didn't like the last one much)
Barleyjuice (got both in the mail today, good stuff!!)
Big Country
Blackmore's Night
Brigid's Cross
Brother
Caliban
Clannad
Gaelic Storm
Great Big Sea
John McLean Allan
Kirk McLeod
Mike Scott
Niel Anderson
The Paperboys
Peatbog Faeries
The Pogues
The Proclaimers
The Prodigals
Puddle Jumpers
Sally's gap
Sarah McLachlan
The Saw Doctors
Seven Nations
Solas
Tempest
The Waterboys
Wolfstone
The Young Dubliners
So, what's on your shelf?
...or, what should I add that I've missed?
