Let me start by saying this is not easy to ask.

It's about the PC jacket.

When I rented my 48R from Scotland Yard (which was excellent), the sleeves were too long, and the 'midsection' way too big. I have a 37" waist.

Now, I have kind of a long torso, and short legs and arms, relatively speaking, so when I went to the tailor to be measured, and he said, twice, "48 Regular", I asked about a short. He assured me my body was a regular. It was fine in the body length.

My question is this - am I destined to have to have one made to measure?

Will a 48Short be too short in the body?

Is there a way to take out some of the extra material in the front, so I'm not swimming so much in the extra fabric?

Or will I just have to save up for a made to measure?

If you have any answers, I'm most grateful, and sorry for the personal nature of these questions.
