Honoring the Regiments
I need some opinions and advice on Whether this sentiment is better kept in the heart or would be appropriate to follow thru with...
My company is putting together a couple of Adventure Raceing teams. We won't be very good at first but we will "leave it all on the battle field". Anyway, teams give themselves names in various manners, some silly, some macho, some off-the-wall. My employer loves that I wear a kilt to the office and has said he wants to get a kilt but has yet to pull the trigger. He suggested (whether seriously or jokingly?) that we name the team "Team Claymore". All of this to set the atmosphere...
I was considering proposing that the treams be named in honor of the Highland regiments which have and are being amalgamated. One could be the Gordon Highlanders the other the Seaforth Highlanders. Ideally each team would wear a kilt of the appropriate tartan or somehow incorporate the tartan of that regiment into the uniform (tartan jerseys would be awesome!) Of course we would need to educate the other members (none of whom wear kilts and are "too manly" to wear a "skirt") in the heritage and meaning of this symbolic title and uniform.
Anyway, is this out of line and/or is there some orginization we should consult before attempting to honor the regiments in this way?
