I was home on leave for about 21 days. I spent the first 10 days commuting back and forth to classes on the motorcycle, but after the classes were over, I spent most of my time in my UK or my PK. On a nice Sunday afternoon, I took the family to the gun range, to introduce my visiting cousins to the fine art of writing your name in paper with an automatic UZI. We had a wonderful time. Since I was shooting, I wore my digital camo from PK, and not a sole on the range gave me a second glance. No double takes, no funny questions.

Wal-Mart was a different story. Lots of looks and stares, and a couple of questions. My cousin is from New Jersey, and he is a bit...taken aback by my frivolity or care free outlook. While walking through the parking lot, I told him, "Watch this woman, she is going to take out a camera phone and with out looking obvious, try and take my photo." He laughed so hard when the woman produced a cell phone with a camera eye, that she put it back in her purse before she could take the photo.

At the paintball shop, the salesmen had all sorts of metal objects pierced through his face, and looking at me was really no shock to him. He told my wife that she could bring the paintball gun back to the shop for free service, if she brings the receipt. He said "don't worry if you don’t have the receipt, I will remember you". Of course, that is my cue...you mean you don’t see many guys in Kilts?, He said "all the time, I was the third guy in there that day with a kilt". So, I am a dork I say "really" and he looks at me like a dork, and says, no, not really.

Now the guy at Sam’s club asked me if there was a festival going on in Richmond, because I was the third guy in the store that day with a kilt. Ok, I am not falling for this a second time. Sorry pal that wont work on me...well, I actually was the third guy in there that day with a kilt. I explained to him, (a little remark that I learned on XMarks) that if three men were wearing kilts, and all the women in the store were wearing pants, that would mean he was dressed like a woman. and after a few suggestions of where he could find a kilt, he politely told me, never.

I am sure I have another story or two, but at the moment, I cannot think of them. When I do, or if my wife sends me more photos, I will post them.
