If you are not regimental, you can use a finger or two to move aside your undergarment of choice as you lift. Then when done, let go, with a slight outward motion from the fingers to keep the apron from getting hung up.

Code Warrior, that's my technique at home, I'll probably keep that when going out. It just seems the quickest way to get down to business.
