    Trying on Kilt at Work

So my Scots American kilt arrives on Thursday and if you remember I lost about 22 lbs since ordering it (don't do this, plan ahead). I really didn't think I would loose so much so quick but I digress. One of my co-workers is a very talented seamstress and she moved the left side buckle back just about a 1/2 inch and I punched one more set of holes for the straps so i can cinch it just a bit more.

She brought the kilt in today (looks fantastic by-the-way) and she was very glad I spent a few more dollars on hand stitching. This made it much easier for her to move the buckle. I'm not sure why but I'm sure the kilt makers do. So there I was trying on my kilt in the middle of the Orthopaedic clinic infront of my peers while a couple others helped to cut off the basting (sp?) to let my knife pleats fly free. I was a bit nervous seeing that I have yet made a public apperance kilted (my sporran, hose, etc. just arrived).

One of my co-workers is a big ol' guy and for some reason I really worried about what he would think. I just imagined him laughing or goofing on me for having a kilt. It turned out he really thought it looked cool. That really felt good that my first public outing in a kilt (even though I was in a sergical scrub top) went well and that people, I mean everyone in the office, wanted to see the kilt.

I guess it goes to show that a kilt is really an amazing piece of clothing that many people are facinated about. I am really looking forward to seeing reactions in Germany during World Cup. I will try and make a few runs to the grocery in it to see the reactions. I will send pictures when I can. I have just moved and have not hooked up the ol computer, just stealing a friends. I am rambling on but just wanted to share the kilted story to the kilted mates.
