I'm sure folks recall the Clan badges Steve at Freedom Kilts made. Well, not wanting to sew it on anything, I found a good solution. I got some polymer modeling clay at the craft store and rolled a piece out flat and fairly thin. For those not familiar with polymer clay, you can use it over and over and it doesn't harden up or dry out until you bake it in the oven. I laid the embroidered badge on the clay and marked around it, scribing a line, then using a knife I trimmed it to the outline and size of the badge. Next, I embedded a pin back into the clay and blended a bit of clay over the mounting part of the pin and baked it. Finally I glued the badge to the hardened clay to make a pin out of it. This allows it to be used as a cap badge, kilt pin or whatever other use you want with the ability to move it to another use at any time with no fuss.
