So it was a beautiful day Saturday, so we decided to head up the the Bristol Renaissance Faire on the border between IL and WI. It is a fun time, runs every weekend from the weekend after July 4 through Labor Day. Just some pics of us having some fun. I saw 6-7 UK's being worn (and all black originals now that I think about it) but not going for a period look, more tough/biker look. Spotted a SWK nightstalker being worn with other "period" garb (Jacobite shirt, dirk, sword, tankard, etc.), as well as some others trying to dress period in either kilts with "period" accessories, or at least a dozen great kilts/belted plaids. However, I was the only one dressed in a tartan kilt, but modern accessories, i.e. wearing it just as the clothing on my lower body, and I got more kilt comments than ever before, none bad, mostly "are you Scottish?' types, with a few questions about being regimental.

Anyway, had fun, enjoyed the (sometime outlandish) outfits that many of the people put on, and got to meet with Angus Harvey, the kilt maker mentioned by Beloitpiper. I will post about him on another thread.

Me and the girls, actually at the end of the day.

2 of the characters going around. Not sure if they were part of the faire or just other attendees. They stopped us to chat.

Could not identify this tartan, but the kilt pin looked kind of cool. Some kind of bone, I think.

The girls with a princess:

My oldest showing off her butterfly face painting, and just a little attitude!

Finally, 2 pics of one of the Fairy performance artists.
