And Yet Another Newbie (Tulsa, OK)

I happened to run across a kilted member at a store yesterday and I had to ask about his kilt. Being Scots and Irish myself, seeing someone in a tartan will get my attention.

Thank you, Kevin for the lead, much appreciated. I also asked my friend regarding your Gaelic surname and she did have a response for me (sorry it took a while - time zones across the pond). Here is what she had in response:

Mac is Mac! Tamhais is - Tah (almost like tar with a very short R sound) the mh in gaelic usually makes a Vh sound (there never used to be a V in the gaelic alphabet) so Vh and the is on the end is like the 'is' is jist or list.

So Mac-Tah-Vhis. It's almost like Tavish without the H on the end.

So, something about me. My given name is Stephanie and I'm from Tulsa. Having my first child in 5 weeks, so yes I will be looking for a kilt for him. I would like to find one in our clan tartan, but since it is an ancient tartan, I'm thinking that is nearly impossible.

Any questions, please feel free to ask. I have pregnancy brain and don't always think of the necessary introduction material.
