As one of William Wallace's descendants, the concept that part of my family heritage is not considered "appropriate" outside of Scotland is absurd! That your son is proud of his heritage should be encouraged, not suppressed.

For that matter, even if your son (and/or his friend) don't have any Scottish heritage, the kilt certainly does have historical significance - any "educator" who cannot recognise that should hang up his/her mortar-board and go into retirement.

Kizmet, please don't think I'm angry at you or your family - far from it... it's more like 'righteous indignation' on behalf of your family..
