Kentucky Tartan
A while back I asked if there was any interest in the Kentucky Tartan, to see if there were enough of us to actually get an affordable price. While there were a couple, it still didn't really seem feasable.
This morning I deciced to try and find Lexington and Louisville Celtic/Scottish societies to see if I might still be able to generate enough interest.
What I found was http://www.kentuckyunited.org/home.html . The Kentucky United Pip & Drums have just deciced (in OCT) to get the KY tartan as their uniform (kinda makes sense). Anyway, I wrote them the following e-mail
Hello,
My name is Adam Duke, and I found your web site this morning while looking for information about the KY tartan. I have recently been trying to drum up enough people to order KY tartan at an affordable price. I have a couple of people on www.xmarksthescot.com (a site dedicated to kilt wearing) but it was still not enough to justify the cost. I was actually looking for Louisville and Lexington Caledonian societies when I found your web site.
If you have not yet ordered your new band kilts, would it be possible for others to join in with the order either for just tartan or for a made kilt? Secondly, if you are still looking for kilt makers I would recommend going to www.xmarksthescot.com as many US and Canadian kilt makers post there regularly (I personally hope to get my KY tartan in a 4 yard box pleat by Matt Newsome in NC)
Thank you,
Adam N. Duke
Hopefully they will respond and the few of us who were interested can get our KY tartan. Also X Marks may get an infusion of KY members .
Adam
