Unknown Tartan
Being a growing lad, though I haven't grown upwards for many years, I have grown outwards a little, and I grew out of my 34 inch waist Hunting Stewart tank that I have been wearing since 1973.
So I gave my old kilt to my step son , as he is learning to play the pipes, and I bought one on ebay that fits me. It is good quality, made by Kinloch-Anderson but the seller didn't know what the tartan was. I had never seen the tartan before and haven't been able to identify it on line or in any books.
I met Mat Newsome at the SC Games yesterday and he said that he had seen my tartan before and would I like to know what it was?
He fed details of the colours and pattern of the tartan into his computer but couldn't find it. He said,"I know I've seen that tartan". He picked up a little book of tartans, flipped it open and there it was - County Sligo Tartan - I have an Irish kilt
I liked it before I knew what it was, I like it even more now.
So if anyone has an unknown tartan or wants to find a tartan - Mat Newsome is the Guy to contact.
Peter
